Carval National User Conference 2016

On Thursday 13th October 130 HR Unity users from 65 companies gathered at the Wyboston Lakes Executive Centre near Bedford for the company’s annual National User Conference.

Craval National User Conference 2016

The event marked the company’s 30th birthday and Technical Director Jason Sweby discussed his pride that his family’s business had come so far in his welcome address.

Carval’s Sales Manager, Frank Reynolds, then took the stage to take users through HR Unity v5.8 the latest release of Carval’s successful integrated software range. In addition to a revamp of the user interface, the release features over 230 enhancements across the solution’s HR, Payroll, Time and Attendance, Rostering, eRecruitment and Employee Self-Service modules, 20 per cent of which have come from specific user requests as part of the company’s popular “WIBNI” (wouldn’t it be nice if) scheme.

The ability for users to directly influence the product was discussed in further detail by John Ovington, Carval’s Operations Director. His address also looked ahead at the development roadmap and discussed the flexibility offered by the company’s extensive library of plug-ins to support complex company sick pay schemes and more. Carval's clients continue to receive twice yearly upgrades to ensure they remain current with legislation and benefit from new features in the software.

During morning break times delegates benefitted from one-to-one mini consultancy sessions and product demonstrations to help them get the most from their HR software and explore new modules before returning to the conference rooms for an interesting session by Operations Manager Michelle Barker and Payroll Consultant Bob Knox on streamlining HR and Payroll processes through integration.

After lunch, delegates were able to choose from a variety of different workshops and learning opportunities. Beverley Smith, Policy and Advisory Officer for the CIPP, delivered a highly informative update on payroll legislation including the Apprenticeship Levy. Carval’s training team, headed by John Herbert, ran a very popular series of 10 minute “how to” software demonstrations covering mail merge, triggering workflows, scheduling reports and much more.

For their final conference sessions of the day delegates split themselves equally between a demonstration of the wealth of functionality now available across Carval’s time management solutions, delivered by Louise Morris and Suzanne Andrews from Carval’s projects and training teams, and a workshop on Automating Pay Awards. For this Michelle Barker took to the stage again to demonstrate the salary modelling tools in Carval’s Uniwage payroll software  and ways of automating other pay changes.

The event was kindly supported by exhibitors from the CIPPGateway HR and ZKTeco.
