Carval and GDPR

From 25 May 2018, GDPR will impact every organisation serving citizens in the EU (regardless of Brexit). It will introduce a variety of new rules, including the need to demonstrate compliance, with increased fines of up to €20m or 4% of annual turnover.

A statement on our own readiness as a business for GDPR can be found here.

To help your organisation's journey towards compliance, we have developed a solution for Carval HR Unity (soon to be Civica HR & Payroll) which allows you to gain a clearer picture of where data is stored in the system and why, enabling you to offer your employees complete transparency about the information held.

Today, Carval users can run subject access requests using reports found within the standard reporting suite or by writing their own custom reports. Facilities are also provided to completely delete employee data. The onus is on the user not to delete or anonymise any data that they are required by law to hold (e.g. payroll data for 7 years).

To streamline this process and drive efficiencies across your organisation, Carval’s new GDPR module will be available from 1st May and delivers:

  • Faster data retrieval for access requests
  • Streamlined reporting
  • Ability to anonymise data

It is important to be able to anonymise rather than delete data to ensure information such as Gender Pay Gap reporting remains accurate.

Further information on this module will be sent out to customers in the near future, however if you would like a quotation and to pre-order this module please contact our account management team.
