Enesco Ltd

Enesco Limited is renowned worldwide for innovative and humorous gifts, home décor, gardenwares and collectables. Its selection of products encompasses the well known brand names of Border Fine Arts, Country Artists, Enesco, Gund and Lilliput Lane and includes licences for all-time favourites such as Beatrix Potter, Disney and Winnie the Pooh. Enesco doesn’t sell directly to the consumer, preferring instead to deal with carefully selected retailers throughout the UK and the rest of the world. The company employs approximately 250 people in the UK.

The Drive for Change

Enesco Limited’s existing HR and Payroll application was badly in need of upgrading and due to the cost involved the company decided to evaluate the market place to compare alternative products. The team were keen to source an integrated HR and Payroll solution that offered holiday and absence management, training, the ability to attach documents to employee records and Self Service capability.

After an initial round of demonstrations Enesco settled on a system only to discover that it was only to be supported for another year. At this point the project stalled. Then the effect of the economic downturn hit and the company shrunk from 300 to 240 employees. At this point Enesco re-evaluated their needs and went back to market.

Choosing Carval

Enesco chose Uniwage Payroll Software and Unistaff HR Software together with Unity Online Self Service from Carval Computing Limited’s uniquely integrated HR Unity software range. The solution offered all the functionality that the company required and importantly Carval was able to demonstrate that the solution was a future-proof one. Carval is committed to the on-development of the HR Unity software range and all clients are provided with the latest commercially available version of the software at no additional cost. This means they continue to benefit from the latest technological, functional and legislative updates so will not be affected by obsolescence issues or be faced with expensive upgrade charges.
