National Auto Parts specialises in clutch and brake components for cars and light commercial vehicles and has been reliably serving the Independent Aftermarket in the UK and throughout Europe as a manufacturer and distributor for over 25 years.
Based in Nottingham, England, they distribute their products to the Independent Aftermarket within the UK and across Europe. The company has just over 100 employees, including both site-based staff and a team of delivery drivers.
National Auto Parts were using Sage to process payroll in-house along with a separate time and attendance system to clock employees in and out of the building. However the company had no HR Software and like so many companies of their size were increasingly struggling with largely manual HR processes with their inherent inefficiencies and inaccuracies. Therefore the initial focus of the project was to identify suitable HR software.
However the decision to move to new premises introduced the need to urgently review their current Time and Attendance system and this quickly became the primary project driver. One of the main issues identified with the current T&A solution, along with limited functionality, was that it lacked any real integration with Payroll resulting in the need for time-consuming and sometimes inaccurate manual reconciliation. Therefore the project team set about finding a solution that could offer integration across not only Human Resources and Payroll, but Time and Attendance management too.
National Auto Parts discovered that Carval’s HR Unity software was a clear choice for an integrated HR software, Payroll and Time & Attendance solution. Carval was able to not only offer a flexible, unctionality-rich and completely integrated system but also a phased approach to implementation that addressed their business requirements.
Phase 1 of the project has seen National Auto Parts implement Carval’s Unitend Time and Attendance software in time for the move to their new site. The company has opted for biometric finger-print readers for site-based staff to clock in and out, providing accurate payroll data through Carval’s standard dynamic interface with Sage Payroll and also up-to-the-minute information on who is on site. In addition the company has opted to install HRD proximity card readers in both their warehouse and in reception, to enable them to keep track of their delivery drivers and also site visitors. The option of access control is also available to them.
Phase 2 of the project will see National Auto Parts implement Carval’s Unistaff HR Software and Uniwage Payroll Software for seamlessly integrated HR, Payroll and Time management at the company.
